Some Features You may want to Consider

Pause n’ Serve feature is very popular, you can enjoy this feature from the cheapest to most expensive coffee makers. Basically with this function, you can pour a cup of coffee without break off your brewing. When you take out the pot, the valve closes so the coffee will not dribble everywhere. A very convenient and sweet feature.

Another nice feature I am always looking for is the lighted button, this is another sweet feature. With this feature, you do not need to turn light on if you prepare coffee in the early morning when it is still dark outside. A timer is a very important feature in this case, you can prepare other things and leave the brewing to the coffee maker.

Capacity is an important feature as well. Generally you can find all sizes from one cup or k cups to 4 cups, 10 cups or more. Just find one best meet your need, that is not hard. With so many brands and models out there, you can basically consider this feature at the very last.

Built-in grinder is another convenient feature, not necessary for home use although. Coffee machines with this feature usually just grind enough coffee for each use. Still, a good feature for the best freshness for people who need.

Types

There are 5 types of coffee makers that are mostly used today. They are

  • Drip Coffee Maker
  • The French Press
  • Espresso Machines
  • Percolators
  • single-serve brewers(k cup coffee maker)

Drip Coffee Maker is definitely the most common coffee maker nowadays for its relatively low price compared to other types and ease of use. It is also the most popular coffee machines, you can surely find a model for your home with so many styles and sizes out there.

There are two types of drip coffee makers – manual ones and automatic ones. As most people like auto-drip coffee makers, I just take into more details about auto-drip coffeemakers.

Let us see how an actual drip coffee maker works, the same model as the picture shows above.

The French Press known as Press pot, coffee press or coffee plunger is invented in France in the late 19th century.

Let us see how it works.

After you have watched the video, I am sure you have noticed the benefits of a French Press. Yes, it must be the easiest coffee maker you have ever used, and one without filter which can better the flavor. Besides, you boil the water, so you control the temperature, you put whatever amount of ground coffee, so you control the flavor. In one word, you control everything with this machine.

Another great advantage of a French Press is that it is very portable. Travel mug is one of its version, the only difference is using plastic instead of glass for traveling convenience.

Of cause it does has disadvantages. The first one is its inconsistency, but this is not a disadvantage for everyone. If you always like exactly the same flavor every time you brew, then French Press would disappoint you. The reason is obvious as you can not control the temperature, amount of coffee, time you press the plunger, so you can not expect the same flavor as your last brewing. But for me, I like this feature.
